Where the trade stops paying
Backend-as-a-service

I wanted to know how far you could get without writing a backend, so I built this on a backend-as-a-service and found out. Quite far: auth, storage, database and uploads came for free, and it came together in days. The editor is TinyMCE, because writing a rich-text editor is a well known way to lose a month and produce something worse than the one you could have installed. Where it stops paying is the moment you want a query the platform does not express, or behaviour that belongs on the server between the client and the data. That lesson is why Postlyo has its own backend.
